To determine your eligibility, follow these steps:

Look up your property's Assessor's Parcel Number (APN).

Type in your 10 digit APN to determine your property's eligibility.

If you property is eligible, create an account on the City's Waste Portal. Need a unique code? Request one through our feedback form. If your property is NOT eligible, learn more about setting up service with a private hauler.

Eligibility for City Trash Services
New San Diego Municipal Code Requirements
City to provide collection services for:
- Single-family homes
- Residential complexes, up to 4 units
Private haulers provide collection services for:
- Non-residential properties
- Mixed-use properties
- Residences on private streets or gated communities
